About AVEO

Ashuelot Valley Environmental Observatory (AVEO) links citizens with professional scientists to gather ecological data aimed at protecting and restoring the environment of southwest New Hampshire.  We are a program of the Harris Center for Conservation Education, and are housed at Keene State College, where we create active links between the College and the community, provide research opportunities for KSC students, and integrate citizen science into undergraduate courses.   Our citizen science projects have included:

Salamander Crossing Brigades and Vernal Pool Documentation
Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship
Bird Banding
Nighthawk Patrol Monitoring
Invasive Plant Surveys in Pisgah State Park
Ashuelot River Water Quality Monitoring using Aquatic Insects

AVEO was originally founded as an independent non-profit organization by David Moon and our founding Board of Directors in 2003.   We became a program of the Harris Center for Conservation in 2010.
