If you see a flock of wild turkeys in New Hampshire this winter, the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department wants to hear about it! The 2012 Winter Flock Survey aims to bolster Fish and Game’s understanding of the abundance and distribution of turkeys during New Hampshire’s challenging winter months. The online survey asks citizen scientists to report flock location; habitat; the number of turkeys in the flock; and what the turkeys were eating. Click here to submit your turkey observations, through March 31, 2012.

New Hampshire’s statewide turkey population is currently estimated at 25,000 birds, with turkeys found in every county in the state….quite a difference from 1975, when 25 turkeys were successfully reintroduced to New Hampshire after a 100+ year disappearance from the state!
